This report presents findings of an in-depth analysis of the landscape of Savings Groups (SGs) in Zambia,
including their operations, challenges, and opportunities for financial inclusion. A total of 1,712 savings
groups were mapped and surveyed across 8 districts in Eastern, Copperbelt, and Central provinces. The
majority of savings groups, 85% (1,455), were located in rural areas, with urban and peri-urban areas
accounting for just 8% (143) and 7% (114), respectively.
